With the average cost of a wedding fast approaching $ 30,000, you might be looking for places where you can cut costs and yet still have an elegant affair. One place to cut costs can be on your wedding favors. Wedding favors are a long held tradition and certainly you do not want to cut them out entirely, but the questions is, can you spend under $ 1.00 per favor and still get something both beautiful and functional? The answer is a resounding YES! The selection of quality, value priced favors has never been better. In part 1 of this 2 part series we will look at some inexpensive yet functional favors. Cookie Cutters
Cookie Cutters are a perennial favorite for low priced, but functional favors. Cookie cutters come in many shapes and sizes, so pick the ones that fit your wedding theme best. For example, if your wedding decor features butterflies and nature, grab a butterfly cookie cutter set. Having a beach theme wedding? Grab some palm tree cookie cutters. Many cookie cutter favors are packaged in clear boxes and wrapped with bows, making an elegant presentation. The palm tree cookie cutters we looked at even came in matched packaging featuring a "blue sky" background.
Bookmarks and Key Chains
Bookmarks and Key Chains are two categories that have numerous discount favors available. Key Chains often have a metal key ring with a poly-resin or metallic charm. Charms are available in various shapes and sizes, so as always, be sure to match them to your wedding theme! Bookmarks are similarly designed, usually featuring a metallic clip with a poly-resin charm fixed atop.
Some of my favorite bookmarks and key chains featured angel charms. These were perfect for religious themed wedding, or even as christening or communion favors. Butterflies are popular charms for key chains and bookmarks too, with surprisingly good detail. My favorite of all was a crystal key chain with a crystal heart charm. Sparkling and beautiful, your guests will never know how little you paid. In fact the packaging alone was worth it for the ones I found, they came in a shiny silver box with an adorable matching silver pillow inside!
Glass Coaster Sets
Finally, and probably most popular of all the discount wedding favors, are glass coaster sets. Photo coasters allow you to insert a picture of your choice – such as a romantic picture of the bride and groom to be! Or, leave them empty and allow your guests to insert a picture of their choice. Coasters make simple, elegant, and very useful favors for all your guests.
As you see, it is not hard at all to find elegant yet affordable wedding favors for under $ 1.00. The favors mentioned above are only a representative sample from a larger selection of favors that will keep your wedding on budget without sacrificing style.
