Engagement Gift Ideas and Suggestions

[ad_1]

The time when a friend or family member becomes engaged is a time to congratulate them and celebrate the happy news. Although it is not necessary to give them an engagement gift, it is often an appropriate and thoughtful gesture to send one. However, if they are not a very close friend or family you should not feel obliged to get them a gift. In this case, a card should be enough.

What to Get

It is not uncommon to know either the bride-to-be or groom-to-be better than the other. In this situation it is okay to only send a gift to one half of the couple. But be tactful about it so you do not risk offending the non-receiving half.

Gifts need not be expensive as the couple are not yet married, and you should be saving for the wedding gift anyway. A meaningful present to honor their relationship will be well received. Remember these are still two separate individuals and during an engagement they have only announced an intention to become one. For that reason you should get a gift that reflects that. Do not buy something for the house like towels or dishes.

It is difficult to find some ideas on what to get as an engagement gift. Money would not be unwelcome as modern weddings are very expensive. Avoid the obvious champagne flutes as other guests are likely to get them this, andides, how much do you use champagne flutes on a regular basis? Not very. Anyways here are some engagement gift ideas to help you out:

1) A romantic gift basket. Put things in that the couple can share like a small blanket with candies and chocolates. Some aromatic candles and soaps are good ideas also. Get things that if the couple choose to stay in, they can use to cuddle up together and share.

2) A couples cooking class. Not only to prepare the couple to make a home together, it's also a great bonding experience. If they like Italian, find and Italian cooking class, if they like French, then a French cooking class and so on. Everyone loves a home cooked meal and once married can be a romantic evening they spend together.

3) Spa gift certificate. While many consider this activity female-only, this can make an excellent gift for a couple. They can look forward to a whole day of pampering and relaxation together which offers a chance for some bonding. It may also distract the bride-to-be from the stress of wedding planning.

4) Dinner for two. Get a certificate which allows the couple to enjoy a romantic meal together.

5) Subscription to a bridal magazine. Wedding planning can be frantic and difficult. If the wedding is one year or more down the line, consider getting a subscription for the couple. They may be able to pick up some new tips and ideas for their wedding.

6) Dancing lessons. Maybe to prepare for their first dance at their wedding for just for a little fun? Dancing is a great way for a couple to spend time together while getting some exercise.

These are just some engagement gift ideas to help you find one of your own. Remember, this is to celebrate the couple and their future wedding. If a gift is too expensive you should consider joining with a few friends or bridesmaids to get one together.
