Planning your wedding can be fun. But you also do not want to forget the wedding reception. You are on a tight budget you need some cheap wedding reception ideas.

1. Plan a buffet and do it yourself. That means get family members to help and have it prepared so that family friends can serve it. Pasta is an inexpensive food. You can do a lot with pasta. Try a spaghetti pasta salad. Cut your own vegetables for veggie trays. Use what is in season and you will save more money.
2. Decorate with paper . Yes you can do a lot with just paper. Photos printed out and arranged on a large sheet of card board. Perhaps doing some scrapbook cut outs borders and fun stuff. This makes an inexpensive decoration as well as a conversation piece.
3. Find vases at yard sales paint them all the same color and put paper flowers in them for centerpieces. Paper flowers have come a long way and you can make some nice ones now. If you do not want paper try silk. But having your vases all the same color even if they are different will make them look more expensive.
4. Balloons, balloons and more balloons. Use helium balloons for arches. Very inexpensive. Use hidden balloons for bunches around poles, and other items. A great inexpensive cover up for awkward items.
5. Material can be used for great effects . You can just purchase material at a craft store for decorating to make color themes. You will not have to sew you can use seam tape, or even scotch tape to make covers and back drops.
6. Try to make a photo spot . Probably some large cut outs. I have printed large tiled photos and spray mounted to large cardboard then taken a jig saw to cut them. Imagine having a fun theme that you create a scene that guests can be a part of.
7. Christmas lights. You can always use those clear lights somewhere. Do not just use the string ones what about the icecicle ones or the bush cover ones. They even have some different type ones that go from different colors too. When you see lights at Christmas think about ones you might use.

If you keep an open mind you will be amazed at what you can use for decorating your wedding reception. You can also think of foods that you have eaten at other events. Food is a major expense. If you have means to make the food you can save a lot of money. But keep in mind that bad food will make a bad impression.

You can have a nice wedding and you can use some cheap wedding reception ideas and still make it a nice one.
