How to Have a Successful Honeymoon – On a Budget

[ad_1]

It's easy to believe that only money ensures a successful honeymoon. This is not necessarily true.

Given, one does require a certain amount of money (practically speaking) but it does not need to make or break your honeymoon.

Remember, you are there to celebrate your union. Not to fight about the cost …

Here are a few tips on how to maximize your post-wedding bliss – even on a budget:

1) Decide on a budget and stick to it

It's very easy to over spend, but keep in mind, you might regret it later. Budgages are there for a reason and once you and your partner have decided on an affordable figure, take it from there.

2) Have a sponsored honeymoon

Did you know that you can get friends and family members to sponsor little parts of your honeymoon as a wedding present? This is great for those who do not know what to get the newlyweds and would rather donate to a spectacular spa day than give a gravy boat.

3) Decide on your holiday destination

Remember, you need to find a holiday package that agreements with your budget and it helps if you both know beforehand what type of holiday you'd like.
Yes, we know that most of the time will be spent in the room, but lets say one of you would like a spa treatment and the other a game of golf – simply book a golf and spa resort. Easy!

4) Pack in the essentials

Try not to pack in unnecessary items. This will take up valuable souvenir space in your suit. Another plus side to taking only that which you need is no extra money will need to be forked out for excess baggage.

5) Hit the road

If you are not that keen on plane ticket prices, stick close to home and drive to your honeymoon destination.

Even with fluctuating petrol prices that have reached record highs in the past year, it's still probably a more affordable option to drive to that romantic destination, hidden retreat or cute B & B you've always wanted to experience.

Plus, you can add the retro-cool factor of driving off into the sunset with your "Just Married" sign on the back of your car.

6) Book early

It is essential that all you love birds think about the practical side of your honeymoon. (Just for the planning stages at least.) Booking early guarantees availability of inexpensive rooms in the hotel of your choice and it also means there will not be any disappointment relating flight arrangements.

On cruises, which announce their itineraries 10 to 14 months in advance, it also means savings of up to 55%. On the flip side, if a ship is under booked, you may snag a last-minute deal up to eight weeks before sailing (although you may have a limited choice of cabins).

Either way, it's a steal!

7) Compromise on the activities

Now that you have reached your destination, do not ask about the things you would like to do. As a married couple, compromise is the key to keeping the peace. You need to keep your activities in line with your budget.

Try to find something you can both – together.

8) Do not rule out doing your own cooking

Self-catering accommodation facilities allow you to whip up your own meals for two whenever you get the munchies. We all know that those who cook together have lots of fun while doing it …

Before you do this, be sure to pack candles and your favorite tunes for romantic ambiance.

9) Do not forget to brag

Most of us have watched enough movies to know that everyone loves newlyweds. Resorts get weak in the knees as easily as a mother does when looking at her newborn baby for the first time.

When you're inquiring about a rate or making a reservation, make sure the person knows it's for your honeymoon. At the very least, you may get a better table or free flutes of champagne. At best (especially during the off-season) you room might be upgraded!

10) If all else fails …

Is your budget still coming up short? Do not sweat just yet. Why not book a nice hotel room for your wedding night and start saving for a belated honeymoon blowout on your first anniversary.

It's all about love, celebrating your union and the start of your journey as husband and wife.
