Save Money on Your Wedding Photography

[ad_1]

Lets be honest, Weddings are expensive!

As if the dress, suit hire, food, beverage, car hire and flowers did not cost enough, most photographers charge around $ 5,000 for an average wedding package!

Photography is important however. It helps you remember your special day for years to come, and to share those memories with future generations. I still remember looking through my Grandmother's album in awe, as a child.

There are ways to lower your wedding photography costs however, while still capturing the moments you will treasurer forever. Here are a few ideas:

  • Enlist the help of family and friends with an eye for photography, who will photograph your wedding for free! If they feel comfortable with new technology, and are quick learners, you could hire a top-of-the-line camera (and shoot on auto), this will make a world of difference to the quality of your images. DSLR Cameras can be rented from photographic specialty shops for around $ 180 per day
  • Hunt around for affordable photographers. There are not a huge number of firms out there who will provide this service cheaply, so you have to look hard (we might know a business in your area if you need help finding a photographer)
  • Advertise your wedding at a local photography class or university – they may enjoy the experience from photographing your wedding, and you can get some really creative photos of your special day
  • Get your guests involved! Have digital cameras given out at your wedding, to get your guests' view of your big day
  • Use a professional photographer to capture just one or two vital hours of your special day
  • Make your own photo album! Many photographers have 'packages' which include the design, print and manufacture of an album. What you are not told about however, is the thousands of this adds to your package deal. Opt out of having an album made for you, and make it yourself – with your special touches all through it.

Always keep in mind, there is safety in numbers. The more photographers you have, the smaller the chance of 'missed moments'. Each idea above can be used in conjunction with the others, to help you have your precious moments captured in a way you can rely on.

Please note, although you may want to save money, it is important to get your photos printed at a specialized photographic printer (never use the kiosks at department stores, or chemists, as the colors are not 'true' and will fade dramatically within ten years). This will help your photos last the distance.

Best of luck with your big day! We hope these ideas have helped.
