When going on a vacation or anywhere you should always be conscious of what you are spending. Many people do not think before they spend. They buy something and then a day later wonder why they bought it. When you are trying to budget for a vacation you should always remember that a little goes a long way. The less that you spend before your trip the more you can spend during your trip. You never want a vacation to max out your credit cards or leave you broke. You want to enjoy a vacation knowing that when you get back you are still going to have money. The best way to budget your money is to prioritize.
Really think about what is important. If you can live without it, then you do not need it. Really stretch that dollar. Planning for things in advance is a major way to help save a little money. If you prepay or purchase tickets way in advance then they are generally cheaper than if you purchase them the week before you want to leave. Also, be cautious of what you think you need to buy. The whole new wardrobe is not something that you really need unless you have a special occasion you are planning on attending in which case buying an outfit or two is acceptable. No matter what people may think you do not need five different bathing suits. Two is usually good.
If you already have plenty of something to get your mind off of buying more just think of everything you can buy when you get to your destination. You may find events to go to that you did not even know about before you departed and once you got there realized that it is more expensive then you thought. It is times like those that make you grateful that you saved when you could.
