Those who've been touched by globalization cold hands sometimes would choose white-themed western styled wedding ceremonies and receptions. It's simpler than any traditional wedding and suitable for those who did not care for long ceremonies and what-not, after all not everyone has the patience of saint to stand and watch the long proceedings (I know by personal experience how exhausting those can be, especially when you stuck in tight-fitting traditional garb).
Yet, for those who still feel that such wedding is beyond them, why not go for themed wedding?
Yes, themed-wedding.
Do you ever have any childhood fantasies about becoming a princess from far away land (and no, I'm not talking about Shrek and Princess Fiona) being whisked away by some prince charming, who's happened to be your husband to-be, in shining armor, complete with a magnificent white stallion? Or dressed in Arabian garb, befitted only for 1001 Nights characters complete with your very own personal genie?
Believe me when I said that such things are no longer fantasies. With the help of reliable organizer, it can be done. It might be tricky, not to mentions costly, but a wedding is suppose to be happened once in a lifetime so why not try to decorate the ballroom into something sprung out from children fairy tale books? The decorations will vary, depending on which theme you chose. Arabian Nights? Sleeping beauty? Rapunzel?
Trying to build a usable tower in the middle of a ballroom is a hassle, and difficult too. But again, wedding only happens once in a lifetime; why not make the most of it? Yet, for those with limited budget but wishing for a themed wedding, you do not have to create all the extravagant accessories. Red lantern or Thai silk adorning the ceiling is enough to add a feel of Asian-theme wedding; use lotuses or peonies and cherry blossoms for your flower arrangement and much simpler accessories with bamboos and paper.
Yet, regardless of what you choose, traditional, modern or post-modern approach, and nuptial is about two people who love each other deeply. Decorations should not take precedence over the ceremony itself.
Happy decorating!
