If you are having a formal wedding then you will no doubt be looking for wedding favors that will suit the formal style. Whilst there is a huge choice available when it comes to favors, finding those that best coordinate to your wedding takes some clear and creative thinking!
Traditionally wedding favors were sweet confections such as almonds or sugar cubes, but today brides demand something a little more sophisticated. However, just because your wedding is formal, it does not mean you have to spend a lot of money on your favors. Here are a few ideas for wedding favors with a formal feel!
Chocolates always go down well with guests but take them up a level to the luxury variety rather than candy covered hearts or the like. Chocolates such as truffles, handmade confections or a selection of handmade delights from the chocolate shop do not need to be very expensive because you only give each guest one, two or three depending on their size. You can present them in nice card boxes or if your budget will go a little further look for some small dishes or plates to place them on.
Candles are a perennial favorite for wedding favors, but rather than going for sturdy scented tea lights or themed candles, choose pure white votives instead and find some nice plain glass or chrome holders to present them in. A pure white candle has an air of sophistication that you just do not get with other candles and they look lovely presented in a matching pure white box.
Photograph frames are always useful and are probably something that your guests are likely to use at home. Choose nice classic styles in silver or gold and in shapes such as rectangles, ovals or squares. You can also double them up as name card holders if your budget is tight.
Mini cakes are expensive but they do sit with a formal theme particularly well, especially if your cake maker designs them with a formal wedding in mind. Present them in clear plastic boxes to show them off in all their glory or if you would like to surprise and wow your guests choose card boxes instead with lift off lids. If your budget is tight then use them in place of a formal wedding cake to save you money.
Finding formal wedding favors really means looking for favors that are not heavy themed, avoid vibrant colors unless they coordinate with your wedding colors and avoid anything cheesy! Packaging can go a long way to making something look more formal than it really is, so if your budget say candy rather than luxury chocolates, think about spending a bit more on your packaging to make it look worth more than it really was!
