Venues for wedding receptions come in all shapes and sizes. You could hire a castle or a boat or a sports stadium. If you're considering a boat, choose a river boat. The sea is too unpredictable and the guests, or indeed the bride and groom, could be seasick. If you can not afford to hire a stadium but one or both of you are really keen on a particular sport then theme your reception decorations around your favorite sport.

Country houses or chateaux in France are both lovely venues for weddings but may not be suitable for wedding receptions on a budget. However, you may be able to provide accommodation for your guests in this way.
