Wedding Reception Ideas – Getting the Whole Family Involved

[ad_1]

Wedding Receptions are often the most tricky part of the wedding ceremony when it comes to planning. The ceremony itself is, in most cases, pretty straightforward. You walk up the aisle- say the vows- exchange the rings-kiss- done. But the wedding reception is the section of the evening (or day) when the entertainment needs to be…well…entertaining. Many guests (aside from close family obviously) enjoy attending weddings for the party and booze they will be plied with once the main event has happened. It’s the thing that they most look forward to above all else- the good food, nice music, in-appropriate flirting with the bride’s maids and groom’s men. That is why the more wedding reception ideas you track down and research, the better.

One of the key things that every bride desires is a unique wedding. Not one that has been copied and pasted from millions of others across the country- a “cookie cutter wedding” as Miranda in SATC once commented. No. The best kind of wedding is one that can’t be mimicked.

A good way of achieving this one-of-a-kind feeling at a wedding, is to get the whole family involved in the process, doing the things that you would normally pay a professional to do. I recently attended a wedding party where the youngest daughter had made the entire wedding cake herself- she is not a professional cake maker. The result was stunning. The cake was fashioned with love and care, and had a professional finish without looking generic in the slightest. She had also made place mats made out of biscuits decorated with royal icing. It was a lovely, homely touch. You needn’t stop at the food preparations. Why not get in some musical friends to sing a four part harmony, or if you know any jazz musicians, get them to come along and do their business. You could also get family and friends to sort out the decoration at you wedding reception. Why not strap some bunting up to give it that communal- Vicar of Dibley- feel? You could also customise your own dress, getting family members to stitch different bits. Not only is this more economical, it weaves in a bit of magic to your special day. You can guarantee a unique wedding with these wedding reception ideas, and remember, if things o wrong, that’s all part of the fun. You are making memories after all.
