4 Materials Commonly Found In Wedding Dresses

[ad_1]

Your wedding is your special day so you want to be sure that it is a day to remember. Because of this, all brides want to look beautiful and of course, the largest focal point, other than a bride's smile, is her dress. Because of this, you will find a great deal of individuality in terms of wedding dresses. There are certain materials that are more common than others, but in reality there are many different fabrics for wedding dresses. You will find combinations of materials as well, such as a silk and lace wedding dress. Here are some of the most common fabrics for these dresses.

Lace

Although it is rare to find a completely lace wedding dress this is one of the most common fabrics that you will find. That is simply because it is a great way to accent the gown and can work with a wide range of materials. In fact, there are few wedding dress materials that lace will not work with. It can be draped over a base material or used as a shawl or jacket for the ceremony. Although a lace wedding dress can be a bit more traditional, when the material is used in moderation, it can give a more modern look.

Taffeta

Although it varies with taste, one of the common beliefs when it comes to bridal gowns is that bigger is better. This is part of the reason that taffeta is such a popular material for them. Because it is heavy with a stiff weave, it is an ideal fabric if you want to add some structure or shape to your wedding gown. This is why it is so popular in larger gowns, especially those with full skirts. Like most materials used in wedding dresses, taffeta is soft as it is usually made with at least some silk.

Chiffon

Chiffon is similar to lace in that it is usually combined with another material. Despite the need of a second material, it is one of the most common (and classic) options. The combination is necessary because it is a sheer material which allows it to be used to add detail. In this way, either a chiffon or lace wedding dress can be a great way to add a bit of detail and personal touch to your wedding gown. They are also great options for a wedding dress with bolero, working well for the bolero in particular. Chiffon is also commonly used for veils and trains as well as to create additional layers in the garment.

Velvet

Although it is not ideal for summer weddings, velvet is a common material for winter weddings. That is because it is heavy enough to keep the bride nice and warm. The great thing about it is that like other fabrics, it is versatile and can look good in many styles as well as with different details. Velvet in particular looks great with special embroidery and the differences in terms of thickness and weight only add to its versatility.
