Although the spring and summer are the most popular in wedding seasons, the Winter season, December through February offers many wonderful alternatives for a couple. To begin, venues will be cheaper and unlike the Spring and Summer, you will have your pick of dates. From caterers to florists, having an off-season wedding makes everything less expensive.
Not only that, but there are gorgeous decorating and theme options are perfectly suited for the winter.
1. Traditional Christmas theme: There's always the traditional red and green color palette that is typically associated with the December holiday season. Your bridesmaids can wear gorgeous evergreen colored gowns, or for an evening wedding – ruby red tea length dresses. You can really play up the holiday theme with your reception decor and tablescapes. Imagine beautiful organic wreath centerpieces, topped with faux snow, accented with spotted pine cones with white candles placed in the middle.
2. Icy Blue and White: The Icy or Winter Wonderland theme is one of the more popular during that season. If you can fit it into your budget, ice sculptures (of your initials, love birds, or a pair of hearts?) Add a glamorous touch to the theme. Have your bridal party dress in a pretty winter white (a color that does not clash with your) with icy blue sashes.
3. Elegant Black and White Ball: The Winter presents the perfect opportunity to have a black tie formal event. There is nothing more glam and elegant than tuxedos and formal dresses. Black and white can be your main colors as they compliment just about every other color perfectly. Stick with one accent color that reminds you of the season: cranberry, shimmery gold, silver, navy blue, Christmas green are just a few examples.
Your food selection will be the icing on the (wedding) cake in pulling it all together. Serve warm, spiced ciders or cocktails. Instead of the traditional white wedding cake, opt for a spice cake, carrot cake or even a yummy red velvet cake. Think of foods that are typically served during the holidays such as turkey, hams, roasts, stuffing – and see if your caterer or reception venue can add an elegant spin to them.
As parting favors, give your guests holiday decorated candles, customized ornaments, or picture frames in the shape of snowflakes.
