Muslim Weddings: A Time for Celebration

[ad_1]

Muslims weddings are elaborate affairs where both the families of the groom and bride celebrate the union with much enthusiasm and joy. There are many functions and lavish arrangements are made for the Islamic style wedding. Muslim men who are at a marriageable age are eager to find their match so that they can start their own family and share the joys of life with the special someone.

While some Muslim weddings are lavish and grand affairs, others are plain and simple. The reason for this contrast is that some families and individuals believe that Islamic weddings should be based on simplicity rather than pomp and show while others believe that Muslim weddings should be celebrated. Since majority of Muslims love celebrating weddings, the Islamic wedding can span onto a period of weeks and celebration include a mixture of cultural and religious activities and rites. The basic pillar of an Islamic wedding is the nikkah ceremony which is the high point in any Muslim marriage. The nikkah ceremony is basically the signing of the nikkah document in the presence of 4 witnesses.

After the nikkah ceremony, there are many ceremonies to celebrate the signing of the marriage contract. The walima ceremony is also a significant part of Muslim weddings and is celebrated after a day or two after the signing of the nikkah contract and is a banquet offered by the family of the groom. Muslim matrimonial services are also provided by many agencies and online websites which help the young Muslim men and Muslim women in finding the ideal match. Muslim weddings are only the beginning of a journey which both the bride and the groom embark upon with best wishes from the family.
