When it comes to planning the destination wedding of your dreams, you want it to be a day which will provide you and your guests with many fantastic memories for years to come. One destination which will certainly achieve that is Oahu, Hawaii.

The beauty of Oahu is it allows couples to plan a wide variety of weddings – whether you are looking to have a casual beach wedding, an intimate family-only affair or a lavish hotel wedding overlooking some breathtaking views; Oahu can provide you with all this and more. With a wide variety of landmarks and natural beauties such as Waikiki Beach, you will have a hard time choosing from all the lovely spots for your special day.

Makapu'u Beach Park boasts gorgeous sandy beaches, sand dunes and glorious coconut tree groves – all you could want from an exotic wedding location. With the stunning Ko'olau Mountains acting as your backdrop, you are sure to be left breathless by the views which make this the perfect destination for those looking for an intimate and romantic location. And, it's only 40 minutes from Waikiki, so you're sure to have an abundance of accommodations from which to choose.

For those couples wanting to say their "I Do's" in a tropical garden setting, Oahu does not disappoint. Honolulu Botanical Gardens offers couples five garden sites for wedding ceremonies. These five gardens include the Foster Botanical Garden in downtown Honolulu, the Koko Crater Botanical Garden and the Lili'uokalani Botanical Garden, portions of which were once owned by Queen Lili'uokalani. You will need a permit, which needs to be obtained at least three weeks prior to your event.

One of the most popular locations within Oahu is Waikiki, located on the South Shore. Waikiki not only provides some stunning backdrops for your wedding, but also has the added bonus of fantastic nightlife and entertainment. And located just 10 minutes from Waikiki is one of the most wonderful wedding venues on Oahu – The Kahala Hotel & Resort, which overlooks Diamond Head and Koko Head craters. The Kahala Hotel & Resort has won numerous awards, including: "World's Best Award: Top 100 Hotels and Top 25 Hawaii Resorts" from Travel + Leisure, 2010; "Reader's Choice Award: Top 10 Hawaii Resorts" from Conde Nast Traveler, October 2009; and "Best of the Best Wedding Sites" from Honolulu Advertiser, November 2008. Wedding facilities include the Koko Head Gazebo with Koko Head Mountain and the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop; Diamond Head Gazebo, overlooking Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean; and ballrooms for larger weddings up to 450 people.

The opposite side of Oahu is the North Shore, famous for such surfing spots as Waimea Bay, the Banzai Pipeline and Sunset Beach. It's also where Turtle Bay Resort is located. Turtle Bay Resort boasts almost 5 miles of beachfront, and offers couples stunning backdrops and venues for their weddings, including their glass-walled wedding pavilion or an outdoor venue at Kuilima Point.

When we think of Hawaii, the image of a luau often springs to mind. For those looking to embrace the traditions of Oahu, Paradise Cove is the place for you. Situated on the west side of Oahu at the Ko Olina Resort, Paradise Cove provides you with the opportunity to have a beautiful sunset wedding ceremony within the gardens of the Cove's Luau private grounds. For those looking for a more relaxed funeral, the sandy beach is also a perfect setting which can be enjoyed during the day or at night for a romantic, sunset wedding. The Ko Olina Resort is itself another wonderful wedding venue, offering couples a wide range of wedding packages. Those wishing to elope to Oahu will love the "Ko Olina Intimate Package" for bride and groom only. This package includes an oceanfront cemetery site, a non-denominational minister, and a one-night stay at the JW Marriott Ihilani.

When it comes to planning your wedding, Oahu can offer you more than a great location-it will offer some fantastic memories of your special day. No matter how long you choose to stay in Oahu, the memories it provides you with will last a lifetime.
