The importance of planning a wedding on a budget is to stick to the budget from the very beginning. As one of the very first planning decisions you will need to make is your venue, it may be a good idea to pick a budget venue, defining your attitude towards spending from the very start. Even if you are not planning a budget wedding you could choose a budget venue leaving you with more money to spend on other areas of such as your honeymoon. A budget wedding venue can also be stylish. Here are a few great ideas for an inexpensive location for your wedding.
Many parks owned by the city, county or state often allow you to use their facilities for a wedding. You will generally be required to pay a small fee only, but in some parks you may have to purchase a special license for your function. The great thing about having your wedding in a park is that it will require very little decorating. Most parks are already quite beautiful areas with a fantastic array of wildlife and plants. If the park has particularly striking blooms it will significantly reduce the amount of money you have to spend on flowers for your wedding.
As well as this, if you are having a non-religious ceremony, or a ceremony that is not adhering to strict religious rule, for example, you do not have to marry in a place of worship, the park of your choice can double as both a ceremony and reception location. The downside of having you wedding in a park, or any other outdoor venue is the weather. Make sure you check the weather forecast before you make your final venue decision.
In a similar style to hosting your wedding in a park you could also get married on a beach. This is particularly popular in summer time. Again, you will save money on decorations, as many beaches are very picturesque. Not only should you check the weather for your wedding day but also check the tides. The last thing you want is for your wedding to be washed away.
A great place to have your wedding reception is a local restaurant. Restaurants are used to catering for large numbers of people and if you are already a connoisseur of their cuisine at least you know what sort of food to expect. If it is quite a large restaurant you may be able to hire a private room out, alternatively, in a smaller restaurant, you are more likely to have to rent out the entire place for a few hours. This will vary greatly with the size of your wedding as well. If your reception will be held at a time of day when the restaurant is generally not too busy you are more likely to get a good deal. Also, why not ask if you can hire the place out for a party? Try not to let on that you are having a wedding until you have set a price in stone as the words “wedding reception” generally attract a higher price tag.
Finally, a great inexpensive location could be a college. Most colleges have very large rooms suitable for seating guests at a wedding. If you and your partner met a college, as many couples do, this could be a great way for you to put your own personal stamp on your wedding day.
