The Flowers of a Mother's Tears

[ad_1]

Carnations are gorgeous flowers, having an appearance which is beautiful in its complex form. They are used to refer to love and fascination, which means that a carnations bouquet is a very minority declaration of a strong love. They are native to Eurasia, and have been used by the Romans and Greeks for the first time, as they added them to garlands.

A carnation has five petals and can be a variety of colors, most popular being the white and pink ones. There are three main types of them: large flowered, mini carnations and dwarf flowered. Each of these speaks about the size and number of flowers per stem, so take these into account when you design your carnations bouquet.

Carnations are also associated with Mother's Day, association which exists because of a legend. This legends states that virgin Mary, upon seeing her son's suffering and pain as he was on the cross, she started to shed tears that fell to the ground. From each of those tears, a beautiful carnation blossomed, expressing with its beautiful appearance and scent all the love and words that Mary was unable to.

However, a carnations bouquet is also associated to a variety of other meanings. Carnations which are light red in color, for instance, mean admiration, whereas those dark red symbolize deep love. White carnations are a reference to purity, and the purple ones, to capriciousness. Those striped or yellow in color are the only ones that have a negative association, as the first make a reference to refusal, and the latter, of disappointment.

Carnations are loved and honored everywhere in the world. Ohio, one of USA's states, has named it its official state flower in the honor of President William McKinley, who was assassinated in 1901. He liked wearing a red carnation on his jacket. In addition, carnations are also Spain's national flower.

Another one of the many uses of these flowers is that they can be used in preparation of food. Yes! They are indeed edible. The French liqueur Chartreuse has been made with their pets since the 17th century. Moreover, they are often used as decorations on cakes, and their petals salads a wonderful flavor.

A carnations bouquet is a great addition to house decor, and it can last up to fourteen days if it is taken care of. Upon arriving home, ensure to take away the band that keeps the stems together. Also, cut the stems under water, and in a diagonal line, to increase the water absorption area. Cutting them under water will not allow air bubbles to form, as those can act as barrier for the much needed water that has to reach the entire flower. The water should be warm, and have floral food added in, because this will provide additional nutrients, which will translate in longer lasting flowers. Make sure to keep the carnations bouquet away from any source of heat, direct sunlight and cold.

No matter the reason, giving a carnations bouquet is a great option for when you have something to express which would otherwise be much harder through words. Whether it is for a much loved mother, or a partner, it will certainly bring happiness in the life of its recipient.
