Summertime means travel time, and vacationers everywhere take to the road to scope out exciting events both near and far. Luckily for music-lovers, the summertime is also when many bands go on tour, so the season’s chock-full of festivals and other concerts. Here are some interesting ones around the U.S. that you might encounter on your own wanderings.

Bottlerock

If you love music and wine, this Napa Valley festival features the best of both worlds. It brings in big name national and international acts as well as top-notch indie acts. Tickets include gourmet culinary treats from some of the region’s finest chefs, craft beer and cocktails, and, of course, countless sips of Napa’s celebrated wines. The scenery is stunning too, making this one of California’s most special summer events.

Electric Daisy Carnival

Once upon a time just an electronic music festival, Las Vegas’ EDC has expanded into a full-blown, high-voltage, trippy performance experience complete with carnival rides and one-of-a-kind dance spectacles. The expert production level is visually and aurally stunning. This festival takes place in late June with tickets costing upwards of $300.

Rockygrass

This Colorado festival (usually taking place in late July) is one of the country’s most acclaimed annual bluegrass events. It’s held on a ranch in Lyons, a tiny mountain town underneath the scenic red rock cliffs. The atmosphere is very family-friendly, with beaches for swimming, campgrounds, and fun contests and activities. When not listening to the skilled pickers, festival-goers can enjoy strolling through the town and taking in the cute cafes, antique shops, and lovely views.

Firefly

Delaware may be a tiny state, but when late June hits, it packs a big punch. Sonic pilgrims from near and far flock to Dover for this weekend-long festival that brings in wildly popular bands of various genres. Their additional features make this one of the East Coast’s most unique events, with craft beer and wine tastings, culinary demonstrations, and even hot air balloon rides.

Camp Bisco

Founded by the ever-popular Disco Biscuits in 1999 and originally set in Upstate New York, this 3-day electronic smorgasbord is a favorite among the country’s huge contingent of electronic/jam band followers. Their new home is in Scranton, Pennsylvania, set in a top-tier venue and waterpark called Montage Mountain. The festival takes place in mid-July.

Arise

For a totally different experience, head to Loveland, Colorado for a wholesome and creative take on summertime concerts. This gathering features yoga workshops, speakers on various topics, children’s activities, camps with different themes, art installations, and music from a wide range of genres. It takes place in early August on a hundred acres of campground. Tickets start around $125 for general admission, and kids 12 and under get in free, making it one of the more affordable and family-friendly events.
