Wedding Backdrops – The Outdoors is Great – But If You're Not Outside Then Bring The Outside In

If you are able to choose an outdoor location for your wedding ceremony or reception, be it at a local garden estate or at an exotic destination, then your wedding back will likely be one of Mother Nature's finest.

For a barefoot beach wedding, you may have an orange sunset over the ocean. At a mountain wedding, a spectacular multi-colored sunset over jagged mountains, may perfectly silhouette the bride and groom. At a garden wedding, a vine-covered arbor or gazebo, a fountain, a lake or just profuse flowers in myriad colors can provide the natural brush stroke to help make your wedding day special.

Any of these outdoor settings provide a backdrop that not only give your photographer great positioning ideas for your wedding photographs but give you and your guests an especially unique memory of place that is forever tied to your wedding.

When a wedding is not outdoors, then a photographer can use painted canvas or paper backdrops to set up specific photographs in an interior like a grange hall or meeting room that has otherwise simple details. A skilled photographer can artfully bring the outdoors in with a painted landscape or set a mood by choice of lighting and props to enhance the people in the photographs, especially the bride and groom. Formal backdrops may be set up at the wedding location or at other nearby outdoor locations with photographs taken at a scheduled time before the actual ceremony / reception and sometimes on a different day alike.

Some cities have hotels or other facilities with climate controlled atria complete with tropical blooms and even birds or butterflies. These locales are sometimes available to be rented for wedding ceremonies or receptions. Likewise, botanical and zoological gardens often offer outdoor settings for ceremonies and on-site reception halls with large windows overlooking their grounds that help to bring the outdoors in.

Another way to create an "outdoor" backdrop is to decorate your reception location with green plants, flowers, palm trees, arches, posts, columns, water features or a combination of all of these. As these are all associated with gardens or the outdoor, then by using these props as your backdrop, you will bring the outdoors inside. A skillful placement of these items will lead to photographs that capture the essence of an outdoor event.

You can purchase many of the items at a garden store, craft store or specialty home furnishing store. Good looking "silk" plants plus arches and columns are often available at a well-stocked rental company. Some reception venues have a selection of these items for use at their events. And, some professional event decorators have a stock of these too.

In any case, do not let your outdoor wedding be only a dream. Alone, or with the help of your photographer or a professional event decorator, you can have some of the outdoor ambiance you desire brought to "life" at your indoor wedding. Even Mother Nature sometimes has some human assistance.
