Wedding Pastor Job Description

[ad_1]

This is an ordained minister of Christian faith. He is trained to perform wedding ceremonies that are accepted both spiritually and legally. Many brides and grooms choose the pastor of one of their churches if they go to different churches. He is the one who performs the wedding service, which includes reciting of the wedding vows. They may also give them pre-marital counseling, meeting with them and helping them design the wedding ceremony, and being there at the rehearsal. He will also be the one to file the marriage certificate after signing it. This is why if they have no particular pastor to perform the ceremony and do these other things that they find one they are comfortable with because they will be working close with the pastor to make sure their wedding is all they want it to be.

One thing that you should check before hiring a pastor to perform a wedding ceremony is whether they require pre-marital counseling as a condition before they will marry you. Some couples do not mind attending these counseling sessions while others are opposed to it. Pre-marital counseling will generally consist of many sessions between the pastor and the couple. In these sessions common issues that are important in marriage are talked about. The couples are also taught how to deal with these various issues if they show up in their marriage.

Before the wedding takes place, usually the night before the wedding, they will have a rehearsal and dinner. This is so the bride, groom, and wedding party can over what order the ceremony will be in. At the rehearsal the couple will often give the pastor their marriage license and any fees that need to be paid for the pastor filing it. After the ceremony is when he will sign it and register it the license to show the couple are married.

On the wedding day the pastor is the one that will lead the guests in any prayers if the couple has selected any, perform the ceremony and pronounce the couple husband and wife.

To become a wedding pastor most will have graduated from a theological school that is accredited and have a degree in as Doctor of Theology or Master of Divinity. Some choose instead to buy an ordination. There are many churches that sell these online for anyone who wants to become a wedding pastor. They do have to be ordained by a church and those that sell ordinations will ordain the one purchasing it online at the church’s website. To get one of these all they have to be is a Christian and pay a fee to get an ID card that authorizes them to perform legal weddings only in the United States.
