Wedding Planning – Very 1st Thing to Do

I'm planning my wedding, where do I begin?

Planning your wedding can be very stressful. It can even drive you crazy. But the good news is that it does not have to be that way.

One question that many soon to be married couples will ask themselves right in the beginning of their planning is "Where do I begin?" Trying to answer this question alone can drive you insane. I've heard of couples that decided to elope just to avoid having to deal with this question. It's a very important question that can not be avoided if you want things to run smooth. So please do not elope just yet.

Where do you begin? There is really only one place to begin. Unfortunately, so many couples chose the wrong path.

For example, some couples start by first making a list of all their friends and family they plan to invite. By the time they're done writing down the names of all the people they're planning to invite they soon realize that they can not afford to invite half of the people on the list.

Other couples chose to start by first searching the internet for that dream honeymoon destination. They spend hours filling their minds with pictures of beautiful resorts and dream cruises, again only to realize that they can not afford that luxury cruise to the Greek Islands.

Other couples start by visiting 5 to 10 events in one week, again only to find out that the avenues that they visited are out of their budget.

Yet other couples start by visiting jewelry stores trying out different types of wedding rings only to find out that those rings are out of their price range.

Are you starting to see the pattern here? Are you starting to see how easy it is to set yourself up for failure and stress.

Just like anything else, planning a wedding requires money.

It does not matter if it's a small wedding or a huge wedding. You're going to need money to make it happen.

So the first thing a couple needs to do before going out there and doing all of the above is to find out what their budget is. In other words, how much money as a couple do you have? Where is it coming from; from your savings, contributions, your parents or many a loan?

Once the couple has sat down and carefully studied their finances and arrived at a certain dollar figure, (let's say $ 5,000) then from there they can start shopping around for a venue, wedding dress, rings, realistic honeymoon destination, etc, etc.

If from the beginning you can find out what you can and can not afford, everything after that is going to be much easier and less stressful.

Be honest with what you can afford and remember that what makes a wedding memorable and beautiful is not how big or glamorous your wedding is, but how happy and in-love you both are.
