What a choice the NorthEast has for wedding venues, it can seem a little overwhelming. Depending on where you are thinking of getting married in the North East of England, these are some venues which are definitely worth considering.
Linden Hall – The Macdonald Linden Hall Hotel, Golf and Country Club, is situated near Morpeth in the beautiful county of Northumberland. Very different from having your wedding at a hotel however this can have its advantages. You can hire in exactly what you want, caterers, band, disco, and have a day which is completely your choice and to your taste.

The National Glass Centre, situated in Sunderland, can host civil marriage ceremonies which can take place in the Pod, or the Riverside Suite both beautiful rooms with stunning views of the River Wear. You can also have up to 400 wedding party guests in the Throwingstones bar & restaurant, Riverside Suite, upper foyer and the balcony.
NewcastleGosforthPark, Marriot – This hotel is placed just off the A1 in High Gosforth Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne so makes for easy navigation and access for guests. The hotel itself is set on 12 acres of parkland therefore offering a tranquil environment for a wedding. A large function room great for both day and night receptions can be divided into sections depending on the size of your party.
Caledonian Hotel – This very cute hotel placed on Jesmond’s Osbourne Road in Newcastle is perfect for those smaller functions. The biggest function room can seat 100 people however there is a choice of 5 suites depending on how many guests. I must also mention that it is possible to have a function band and DJ in the largest of the rooms. The Caledonian Hotel is a great choice for a city wedding.
LumleyCastle – This beautiful and exquisite castle steeped in history is located near Durham and can really make those fairytale wedding dreams come true. Set in beautiful landscaped grounds, with views across the river Wear and Chester-le-Street this backdrop is second to none.The amazing state room can hold up to 132 guests and really is more grand than you can imagine. The whole castle is a delight to visit and well worth a look regardless of whether you’re thinking of hold your wedding there or not.
