For many people, it’s a very difficult question – especially if your allocated budget does not allow for both. Here, we’re going to take a look at the main pros and cons for both.
Photography:
Many people would say that a wedding photographer is one of the most important factors to consider when planning a wedding – right up there with the dress and venue in terms of priority. After all the planning that goes into a wedding, you want to make sure that it is documented in the best possible way, so you can look back on those memories for years to come. The way that wedding photos work their magic is in the way they can elegantly capture single beautiful moments. A favourite wedding photo, professionally framed and hanging on the wall in prime position is your own personal work of art – something to be treasured, and seen everyday, whether it’s by friends, family and of course you!
The only downside to photography is that each photo only gives you that single moment. In the years to come, will that be enough? Going with photography alone does mean that the great deal of the wedding is being missed – the bulk of it in fact. Fortunately, wedding video is around to solve that problem.
Video:
A professionally captured wedding video is undoubtedly the best way to capture as much of the wedding detail as possible. From the way the bride’s veil moves in the breeze during the ceremony, to the steal of a kiss in between photos when the bride and groom finally have a second to themselves, to the first dance together watched by family and friends, to the tossing of the bouquet, a good wedding videographer will beautifully capture all of the joy, emotion and fun of this once in a lifetime occasion.
The downside to a wedding video is that you can’t put it on your wall to be seen by all.
So which one is best to go with: Wedding Video or Photography?
It comes down to a very personal choice as to which you’d prefer: having the elegant, single moments, to be put in frames, on walls, shared with friends, etc, or a beautifully shot video account of your special day, to be watched any enjoyed with friends and family in the years to come.
We honestly can’t decide which is better – we know that we couldn’t give up either our wedding photos or our wedding video, and when we ask the same question to other married couples, they say the same thing.
If you can only afford one, then it’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons for yourself – and we can guarantee that if you pick the right wedding photographer or wedding videographer for you, that you’ll be utterly thrilled with the work they produce.
Our advice? Get them both. Remember that this is a once in a lifetime occasion, which half the time the bride and groom barely have a chance to enjoy. You don’t want to be looking back in 1, 5, 10, 30, or 50 years kicking yourself that you didn’t.
