Nearly every public – opinion poll, indicates, Americans consider politicians, to be, among the lowest, in esteem, or maintaining integrity! While this may, or may not, be fair, reasonable, and/ or actual, we seem to be, presently, experiencing less service, and/ or true representation, from our public officials! Never before, in recent memory, have we seen, as much need, for political fact – checking, as we are presently witnessing. When our political leaders seem to lie, so often, why should we trust them? Why do they seem to cover – up, if there is nothing to hide? With that in mind, this article will attempt to consider, review, and briefly discuss, 5 possibilities.
1. Political: While some may lie, because they did something wrong, it is also possible, their lying is done, based on political considerations, and/ or some personal agenda, and/ or self – interest! However, common sense, might indicate, when this is the norm, rather than a convenience, the specific politician probably did something, he shouldn’t have!
2. Perceptions: Optics is often, a significant aspect, of politics! Sometimes, politicians focus on the perceptions of voters, and articulate their message, based on how they perceive, the best way, to motivate and inspire support, for their positions. Regardless of one’s opinion of President Donald Trump, he is a master, of creating a way, to portray himself, and his positions, in a positive light, focused on his core supporters and followers. Mr. Trump, according to the fact – checkers, has either lied, or articulated mis – statements, an average of over 6 times, per day, since he was elected, and is lying at an escalating pace. He strikes out, against anyone, or anything, which disagrees with him, using catch – phrases, such as Fake News, etc, while, in reality, he appears to be, the largest faker, anywhere!
3. Priorities: Whose priorities, should our public officials, serve and represent? While no one, knows for sure, to what degree, Russia was involved in manipulating and effecting the last American Presidential election, and/ or, if there was any improper relationship between Trump’s campaign, and Russians, there seems to be, a lot of eerie coincidences!
4. Attitude: Our President appears to believe, it must be, My way or the highway! This attitude appears to be pervasive, and affect nearly everything he says, and does!
5. Strategy: Some have discussed the concept of the politics of disruption, as it relates to the strategy, of this President. This might explain why he seems to lie, so often, but if that’s the case, and if he believes his lies, and reasons for the apparent, constant, cover – ups, the challenge, and problem for the nation, might be more severe, and concerning!
Why a public official would lie, and cover – up, so often, if he had nothing to hide, might be, based on, one of these 5 reasons, or the present administration, may actually be, guilty, as they might be! What do you believe?
