Winter Wedding Do's and Don'ts

[ad_1]

Having a wedding in winter can come with quite a few benefits. For starters, the cost of booking your venue goes significantly down, allowing you more space in your budget for other things. The vendor you're pining for will also likely be available for the date at which you need them.

And then for the few of us, not having a winter is not even an option. Dreaming up a winter wedding your whole life and then not having it on the actual day itself just does not feel right.

But winter is not the smoothest season for a big event like weddings. To minimize the possibility of anything untoward happening on your winter wonderland wedding day, here are a few things to do and to avoid.

The Do's

Time the event so you can have enough wedding photographs in daylight.

You will need to take into account the fast approaching dusk during winter. Schedule your shoot earlier so your wedding pictures do not get limited by the lack of lighting.

Allow more time for travel.

Traveling in winter can take longer due to snow-covered roads and the generally lowered visibility. Sure, you can forgo this and arrive fashionably late, but would you want your guests to be arriving late as well? Traveling time affects the both of you, so do not let another factor stress you out on your big day.

Provide transportation for your guests.

For the reasons just stated above, provide transportation for your wedding guests from the hotel or airport to your wedding venue.

Check with your venue for heaters.

Confirm with your venue vendor if there will be forms of heaters around the venue and if they will be adequate in keeping the place warm the entire time. There should also be generators backing up your electrical appliances and lighting in case something happens.

The Don'ts

Do not limit your flower decorations to just neutral colors.

There are various colorful options for you, like camellia, amaryllis and tulips. Brighten up your venue!

Do not make the mistake of not wearing warmly and weather-appropriately.

Without you have some sort of superpowers, you will feel the cold at one point or another on the big day. You can wear leg warmers underneath your dress to keep them long. Bring along a coat and wear boots while traveling. When you've reached the venue, have someone hold them for you.

Do not forget to explore your food menu options.

Comfort food like soups and mashed potato will be a hit among the guests in a winter wedding reception. Have your caterer plate them up in a way that goes with your overall theme!

Do not play your summer music playlist.

There are a number of summer wedding ideas you can borrow for your winter wedding, and the music is not one of them. Without of course they are not pepered with lyrics referring to only to summer, avoid creating an awkward atmosphere from playing them in your winter wedding.

Keep these tips in mind and you can successfully have your very winter wedding you always dreamed of.
