You might also consider going barefoot. Definitely a romantic idea, it's also really comfortable. Having white or beaded sandals waiting for you to slip into keeps your toes from hurting in high heels, and you get to feel the warm sand between them. If you decide you're not up to baring your legs, be sure to have an extra pair of pantyhose handy: Bits of shells are sure to get caught in your stockings and cause snags.
Pearls, crystals, lace and beads are beautiful, feminine accents that look lovely in the sunshine with the sea behind you. Halter necklines also lend a more casual, beachy look.
You could also think about colors … non-traditional colors, like blues, yellows, pinks or greens, can look splendid with the ocean backdrop. It can also bring out your own color, as sometimes the bright sun, sand and white dress against pale skin can make you look extra-white.
Putting on the final touch with a sparkling hair clip or flowers in your hair, and possibly a pearl or diamond necklace and earrings can add an extra dash of class, or sentimental reference if it's a mother or grandmother's piece of jewelry.
