In the past century the advances in technology has helped the way and the manner in how we style our hair. Today's world is focused around celebrities and the idolization of your favorite TV actor, pop singer or movie star; everyone wants to look like the celebrity that they admire. With the introduction of straighteners and new formula hair care and hair styling products there is so much potential to get the best from your hair in terms of style and volume.
However cast your mind back to the times when society did not have such luxuries like shampoo, conditioners, straightening irons and hair styling gels. How did women go about cleaning and styling their hair? Well the truth is back in the 17th century women would usually wear headgear such as hats, coifs, scarves, bonnets, and wigs unless they were rich enough to get their hair properly styled and cleaned.
Going even further back in time, and into the 15th century western world, women would usually pluck the front of their hairline to give the appearance of a much higher forehead with the other areas folded back tightly across the scalp ready to sport the fashionable headdresses that of that period. It was in this era that the first form of bleaching came into action and you would often find Italian women using onion skins or either saffron to help the process of creating lighter hair, as the Italians envied the lighter colors of the women in the western world .
