Online Dating Success Statistics: Will You Be Another Success Story?

[ad_1]

If you are thinking about trying online dating and have looked at any of the myriad sites that offer matchmaking services, you will have seen countless testimonials from happy couples and pictures of smiling people in wedding dresses, all of which supposedly met on the site. But just what kind of success rate does online dating really have, and how does it compare with other ways couples get together?

The statistics as they are currently reported for the USA (from a variety of sources including the Census and various surveys into relationships conducted for magazines and studies), show that 1 in 5 unmarried people in a serious relationship claim to have met their partner online. Given that the statistics also show that 1 in 5 single people are currently using internet dating, that is a pretty high success rate.

In a 2009 survey, 17% of couples getting married in the USA were shown to have met online, and while the growth in the online dating industry in the last couple of years would suggest that this year the percentage will be even higher, this shows that almost as many people who are in serious relationships as a result of online dating are actually getting married.

Even more surprisingly, couples who meet online show a trend of moving forward with their relationships far more quickly, with the average time spent as a couple before marriage for online couples standing at 18.5 months, compared with a huge 42 months for couples who did not ' t meet online. This is probably because people who are seeking a long-term relationship or marriage online are already sure that is what they want, and they can meet people who want the same things and therefore tend to go for them more quickly. A couple who meets under different circumstances may not know when they get together wherever they ever want to get married or one partner might be waiting for the other to be ready, hence the longer courtships.

America has a population of 96.6 million unmarried people over the age of 18. 40 million of them are internet dating users. If 40 million is not enough for you, you can always try looking for a partner in China, which has the most in the world with 140 million people on online dating sites. There are some niche sites which exist to match together people with people from other countries, in fact, for instance to match Russian women with US or European men. Statistics show that 37% of single Russian women think an international marriage will give them and their children a better future.

Dating sites specializing in matching older internet savvy singles are also doing well, with 41% of singles over 45 having tried online dating.

With so many singles of all ages from all over the world looking for love on the internet, and success rates that can not be charged with, is not it time you gave online dating a try for yourself?
