You can be forgiven for thinking that your wedding favors begin and end with the little gift you purchase from the favor store. But wedding favors are much more than just a votive candle or a selection of chocolate candies! Your wedding favors form an important finishing touch to your reception tables and as such require more more detail than you may first imagine.
To begin with you will need to consider packaging them. Now not every wedding favor will needlessly packaging, so think about it carefully. If you are on a tight budget then dispensing with the packaging could enable you to purchase favors at a higher price than you originally bargained for. Packaging comes in all shapes and sizes so be sure to buy your favorites first then match the packaging to them.
What is important with the way in which you present your favors is that they coordinate to your wedding style, your theme if having one and your wedding colors. To disregard all of these would leave your favors sticking out like a sore thumb on your tables and your guests confused as to where they fit in!
After you have sorted the packaging you will need to think about extra decorations. For some this is simple, just a little ribbon and thank you tag or sticker. For others it is far more creative and includes a range of added embellishments and tiny details. Again your wedding style, theme and budget will come into play here as decorations can quickly add up if you go overboard! Thin about how they will look on your tables and fit with the other decorations you are adding to the scheme, you may want to keep your favors simple or make them the main source of decoration on the tables, away from your centerpieces.
Thank you tags give a little personal touch to your favors and let your guests know why you are giving them this little gift. They do not need to be anything long winded, or even handwritten, a simple 'thank you for joining us' along with your names and wedding date is sufficient. Many favor stores will provide you with a range of different thank you tags and stickers and the option to customize them to fit with your wedding.
Be creative with your wedding favors, particularly if you want your guests to remember them. Your budget will be the deciding factor in what you give and the way you present it, but try to remember that sometimes it is not what you give but the way in which you give it!
