The Top 10 Things to Do at Disney World

Going to Disneyworld is similar to going to Disneyland, but there are going to be a few differences. It is these differences between the two parks that make the top 10 tips for Disneyworld just a little different from the top 10 tips for Disneyland.

1. The trickiest part is the four different theme parks that make up Disney World. You need to know what parks are going to be the best choice for your family based on ride requirements, such as age and height requirements. You will also need to pay attention to the tickets that you are buying because they are sold as a base ticket but you have to add on different options. The base ticket gets you in to one park each day, but you can add a park hopper pass so you can get into more than one theme park each day.

2. When you are selecting which park to visit for the day you will want to select the park according to the magic hour, which is where a park is opens early for Disney World resort guests only. In these cases, you want to take advantage of the early opening by going to that park or you want to avoid that park for the rest of the day. The park will be more crowded and meeting your favorite Disney Princess while wearing your favorite princess costumes is going to be nearly impossible.

3. Get to the theme park of choice as early as possible. Usually if you get there early there will be fewer people in line so getting into the park is not as difficult. Getting to the parks early also cuts down on the time you will stand in line waiting to meet your favorite Disney princesses. Remember there will be tons of little girls dressed up in princess costumes hoping to meet the Disney Princesses so the sooner you get in line the better.

4. One of the best things to do is to take a break in the afternoon; especially if you have little girls dressed up in princess costumes because of how hot it can get in the parks. Taking a break doesn’t mean you have to go back to the hotel and take a nap, but it is nice to go back to the hotel and relax for awhile, including taking a swim in the pool. After a nice break you can always return to the park for some evening fun, such as fireworks or light shows.

5. Bring your own snacks and plenty of drinks. This can help you save money inside the park because of how much a simple bottle of water costs. The hot and humid weather in Florida requires you to drink a lot throughout the day to stay hydrated, so you can end up spending quite a bit on bottled water if you don’t bring your own.

6. When dining at the park make sure you are getting a great value for your meal. Many people think this means avoiding the sit down restaurants, but that isn’t always true. If you go in for a late breakfast buffet or even a late lunch buffet that can usually fill the family up for several hours, which means not spending a ton on the next big meal of the day. Even better if your daughter is dressed up in her Belle princess costume she has the chance to get her picture taken with Belle or any other Disney character doing a meet and greet at the buffet.

7. Make sure you keep as cool as possible. To stay cool you will want to wear cool clothes and cool shoes, but you can also use a variety of cool down gadgets. The most popular cool down gadget is a personal misting fan, but there are other things that you can buy and bring into the park with you. Like a Belle princess costume you want to buy these gadgets outside of the park because of how expensive these items are inside the park.

8. Make sure you use the Disney Transportation system. This is a great way to get from one park to the other for free. You can also use it to get to and from your Disney Resort to the various theme parks. Plus, it’s a great way to save energy so you can walk through the parks all day.

9. Buy any costumes, such as a Belle princess costume before you get to the park. If you are dressing your children up before entering the park remember that only children under the age of nine can dress up. Adults and older children cannot dress up for fear of causing confusion amongst children.

10. If you have young kids that cannot go on a specific ride use the baby swap feature on rides. How this works is everybody stands inline and on parent stays back while the other one rides with older kids or by themselves. Once their turn is over the other parent immediately gets to go on the ride in the other parent’s seat. Make sure you tell the ride operators that is what you need to do so they know ahead of time.
