As the first step, look for a place with enough space. If you anticipate 100 guests, look for a venue that can hold 200. You would be covered in the event that you underestimated. A few meters away is good but something of a mile and over is undesirable. Look for space behind, adjacant or within the vicinity in which you are holding your wedding.
Many reception sites are bare rooms. You will have to get a decorator do the floral arrangement or you may have to do it yourself. If you would manage it yourself, you can go for silk flowers which are easy to manage. You can decorate the entrance with balloons.
