Wedding Cake Trends

[ad_1]

Over the past 15 years or so the wedding trend has changed somewhat and any reputable cake designer will have moved with the times and changed accordingly!

There are now many different types of weddings that people go for and as such the type of wedding cake has changed with these trends. No longer is there just the "Traditional Wedding" with cakes of extravagant tiers and designs, now we have registrar and licensed ceremonies, along with civil partners, catering for both same couples couples and the traditional husband and wife couple.

With these changes in wedding trends / ideas the requirements for different styling of cakes has also changed. In the past the majority of people always wanted the traditional three tier cake in colors matching the bridal theme set either on a cake stand or support by iced pillows. Now for the "traditional" wedding we are now also seeing requirements ranging from individual cup cakes displayed on tiers to extraordinary cakes designed in the shape of a fantasy castle and for the "Civil Partnership Wedding" the requested cakes can range from just a normal iced fruit cake inscribed with icing to individual designs such as contrasting tuxedos or a single large, butterfly shaped sponge cake.

Of course some people do still want traditional designs with beautiful piped icing, elaborate swags and frills, draping flowers and other sugar iced decorations. But interestingly enough we also find that when we cater for same sex weddings (Civil Partnerships) the requirements can become even more elaborate but whatever the style we always make sure we will provide cakes for any partnership / wedding and do our best to design the elaborate cake that each couple require and finish it to a high standard at an acceptable cost.

One of our recent Civil Partnership cake requests was to provide to two individual wedding cakes in the shape of a heart and dressed with findant icing to create a tuxedo look with one cake made from sponge and the other was a rich fruit cake. The Tuxedo cakes were supplied for 2 males who were taking their vows in a civil partnership, however at the same time we had to provide a traditional three tier wedding cake for a traditional wedding the same day that was dressed with bows and flowers. Two very different weddings!

Like all our other cake designs for our customer's, whether it is for a traditional or civil marriage we will rise to the challenge and treat each of our customers as individuals and meet with their requirements. No cake request ever surprises us and we always aim to exceed our customer's expectations!
