Bridal Fairs – Top 7 Tips for Brides

Heading off to your first Bridal Fair? Take some advice from a girl who's been to lots:

Print Labels

Before you go, print off a bunch of small labels with the Bride's name, address, phone number, e-mail and wedding date. An approximated wedding date is ok, too (like "spring 2008"). Every booth you visit is likely to have a draw for some kind of prize. Having a label that you can just stick on an entry form will save you time. And save your hand from cramping!

Wedding E-mail

It is also a good idea to set up a special "wedding e-mail" account. You will be gathering a lot of information and this separate e-mail will help to keep things organized. It also makes it easier to unsubscribe from all the mailing lists, ours included!

Go early

It's important to head our early, especially if it is an all day event. These things tend to get very crowed in the mid afternoon. Our suggestion is to go early and see as many sellers as you are interested in. Then grab a coffee and sit and relax while you wait for the fashion shows.

Delegate

Give jobs to the people with you. For example, ask your Maid of Honor to carry the bag with all the flyers, business cards and gifts. Ask your mum to handle entering the draws on your behalf (even easier if you have the aforementioned labels!). Ask your fiancé to check out the DJ's and the Limo drivers (a tad sexist I know, but he will appreciate having a job!). Delegating tasks will free you up for gathering the information you need.

Do not Forget the Boys

Watch for "grooms only" drawings. As you can probably guess, there are not as many men at these events as there are women. Grooms who are there have a better chance of actually winning if they enter.

Snack!

Take advantage of catering companies offering free samples! These little snacks will help you keep your strength up through the day. There is usually someone showcasing a chocolate fountain that you can dip fruit into … my personal favorite!

Take your time

Lastly, pace yourself and have fun!
