Although it is still unwanted, hair loss in men is normal in our society nowdays. As long as they are not in their youth, the loss of men's hair is now accepted, even expected, by most. Some people are even attracted to men with little or no hair at all.
However, that is not the case with women. Hair loss at any age for women is unacceptable and may cause embarassment, ridicule and loss of self- esteem. That is why it is very important to immediately take steps as soon as a woman feels the signs of hair loss to prevent further damage.
There are different causes of hair loss for women. Some are caused by external factors like failed hair treatments, excessive stress and improper hair care while some are medicinal in nature. Some drugs have a side effect of hair loss and some diseases may cause women (and even men) to lose hair. Because of these, it is best to consult your doctor if you see signs of hair loss. The doctor will be able to determine the root cause of your problem and will be able to prescribe medication and provide treatment for your condition.
It is possible for your doctor to diagnoseose alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
What are these?
Alopecia Areata is an immune disease that affects many women all over the world. Doctors will be able to give medicines but they will differ depending on the amount of the hair loss.
Androgenetic Alopecia, on the other hand, is a genetic disease wherein the dihydrotestosterone becomes inactive. The hormone causes the follicles to shrink and, in time, causes hair strands to fall and not regenerate. Treatments are also available for this disease.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic immune disease. Hair loss is just a symptom so it is best to consult your doctor. He will be able to tell if what you are experiencing is simply hair loss or a manifestation of a more severe disorder.
Medical consultation at the first sign of hair loss could reverse or prevent the condition from getting worse. Act fast and do not take it for granted. But neither should you be alarmed. Some hair loss conditions are temporary, and most conditions already have corresponding treatments or solutions. Just remember to take good care of your hair and eat healthy to retain your crown glory.
