Diamond Wedding Rings – Womens Vs Mens, and How to Make the Right Purchase

[ad_1]

The timeless beauty of diamonds ensures that diamond wedding rings will never go out of style. In fact, diamond wedding rings are only becoming more popular, especially among men, who may have avoided diamond jewelery in the past. Compared to engagement rings, diamond wedding rings tend to be a little more uniform and subtle in style. From the consumer's perspective, this is nice because the result is that they're usually not as expensive. Still, there are a lot of potential choices out there. We've put together some information we hope will help make this purchase a less stressful one.

Women's diamond wedding rings vs. men's: How they're different

Diamond wedding rings for women tend to be more understated and affordable than engagement rings, but there are still a variety of styles available, and a pretty wide range as to what you might expect to spend. The most common styles for women's diamond rings are the channel setting and the pavé setting. In channel settings, diamonds are set next to one another along a lowered channel, which may go all the way around the band, or just along the front. Pavé settings for wedding rings can have a bit more variance in terms of styles, and they sometimes other gemstones, or multiple rows of diamonds and other stones.

Of these two styles, the pavé setting is usually more expensive, and certainly flashier. Even pavé settings can be surprisingly affordable, though, since the diamonds used are usually very small. Rings that feature larger diamonds in other types of settings are also available, but these tend to be very pricey.

Men's diamond rings almost always conform to one of just a couple of basic styles. One of these is the bezel style, which uses a small number of diamonds (sometimes even just one) set around the band within bezels. These are a good choice thanks to their subtle, classy appearance, while the bezel helps to give the diamond a little extra protection. Channel settings can also be used in men's diamond rings, usually with small, 3-diamond slots set at intervals around the band.

Diamond wedding rings – Getting the best value

Diamond wedding rings can be unexpectedly inexpensive as long as you stick to a couple of basic styles. Styles that use small diamonds are always a good choice, as they look great, and do not cost as much as those that use even just a few larger diamonds. Among women's styles, the channel setting may be the best choice in terms of durability and long-term value. Diamonds in the channel setting are set more securely and given more protection compared to pavé settings. For men's rings, meanwhile, the bezel style is great for those same reasons.

Avoiding styles that use larger (1 carat and above) diamonds is a good idea not only because of the initial cost, but also because these rings tend to have the diamonds set in ways in which they are more exposed, which could result in damage and consequent repair or replacement costs.
