Get Cool Affects With Special Effects Hair Dye

[ad_1]

Special Effects hair dye is the most popular brand for extreme hair colors, such as purple, pink or orange. Instead of just going for one color, try these special effects.

1. Stripes. Striping your hair is done much the same way as highlighting it. All you have to do is tie off sections of hair with clips or pony tail holders and treat each section separately. As you apply the color, make sure you get all sides of the hair shaft.

2. Leopard spots. Dip a dry celery stalk into the hair dye and stamp it onto your hair in random patterns. As an alternative, apply one color of Special Effects hair dye all over your hair. Allow it to dry completely, and then apply the leopard spots in a contrasting color.

3. Tips only. Apply the Special Effects hair dye to just the tips of your hair. You may do this randomly or place pony tail holders at the ends where you want the color to stop. This is a great look for those with Mohawks or pig tails.

4. Plaid. This is a tricky pattern that does not always work well, but if you are the adventurous type, go for it. Apply stripes as listed in step one above. Let dry then apply another color in a horizontal stripe. Use a piece of plaid fabric as a pattern.

5. Geometric shapes. Get a set of sponges used for sponge painting. Dip them in the Special Effects hair dye and press randomly onto the hair. Keep in mind that for all but the shortest hair, locks of hair will move and distort the shape. You may need to apply hair spray or gel to keep hair in place. These products may or may not streak the colors.

6. Underlayers. Put all of your hair into a pony tail except for the longest locks. Apply hair dye only to these locks for a special affect between your head and your shoulders.

Taking care of these special effects in hair dye may be tricky. Expect the colors to run and fade over time. The best bet is to use temporary colors first to determine whether you like the look.

If you are using a temporary hair dye, remember that even these may leave a trace amount of color in your hair for a long time after it is rinsed out. Be sure you can deal with a flaw trace of purple hair dye in your hair before you take the plunge. A professional stylist may be able to correct the problem.

To achieve the look you want, have a friend help you. He or she can apply the color properly and rinse it thoroughly. Or, ask a stylist who has experience with extreme hair colors for their advice and their help.

If you are not coloring your hair at a salon, be sure to follow the package directions exactly for the best results. You will probably need to bleach your hair first before apply special effects. Hair dye works best on bleached hair.

These are just a few of the special effects hair dye can make. What can you do with your hair?
