Guide to Men's Wedding Bands

[ad_1]

Men's wedding bands, particularly if they are part of a wedding set, may reflect the first and often largest single purchase made by a couple. Men's wedding bands are being worn by more people today than in the past, largely because of the increased number of style and design options. Many men choose a simple, unadorned band of yellow gold, but there are other bands that are much more ornate. One of the key things that men look for is a wedding band that shows strength and solidity. The symbolism of an enduring, strong relationship is depicted in the band of precious metal. Like a good marriage, the ring has no end and no seams to detract from its beauty.

Styles of Men's wedding bands

The simplest form of men's wedding bands is a yellow or white gold band with no etching or decorative features. In this instance the beauty of the metal itself is displayed through the polished surface. A wedding band may be greater so that it makes more of a statement. Many men are perfectly content with this type of ring, especially those who are not used to wearing a ring. Men who work in jobs where rings can be damaged or lost will probably want a ring with a low profile. If more substance is desired, the band may be decorated with any type of engraving or markings. Adding a second color of gold is another good choice for increased visibility of the ring.

Common metals used.

By far the most common metal used in men's wedding bands is yellow gold. This choice looks to be large because many men have not felt comfortable wearing any type of jewelry in the past. Yellow gold is somewhat soft and so is more easily worn and scratched than some of the newer choices in ring design. Two tone rings typically add white gold to the yellow gold. Other, more modern choices in rings include titanium and tungsten carbide.

Gemstones

More men are choosing to add gemstones to their men's wedding bands, thanks to the new wave of designers who make use of imaginative colors, designs and setting for the stones. The wedding bands may display a single or more commonly double row of small diamonds on the outer edges of the band. The gemstones add interest and dimension to the other smooth surface of the ring, even when a bezel setting for the gemstones is used.

Who Wears Them?

Men's wedding bands in some form or another have been worn for generations. These rings symbolize the strength and enduring quality of the marriage commitment. More and more men are seeing the wedding band as a piece of jewelry as well. Much thought and care should be given to the selection of the wedding band so that it suits the personality and lifestyle of the man wearing it. Choosing a wedding band that matches that of the partner requires even more attention to likes and dislikes in jewelry and lifestyle.
