Men's Rings Vs Tree Rings

[ad_1]

Let me tell you right up front where I'm going with this postulation: you can tell the age of a man by the ring he wears just about as easily as you can tell the age of a tree by the number of rings it has! There you have it – Read on if you are so inclined …

In general, each ring in the trunk of the tree represents a year of growth. This method of dating can be more or less complicated based upon your purpose and end results needed. The entire science is neatly wrapped around a word called Dendrochronology. Do not ask me where this came from. A gentleman from the University of Arizona developed this theory which later became a science based upon the scientific method sometimes in the early 20th Century.

Why would anyone want to know how old a tree is for that matter? And, can they even tell where the tree grows? The answer to the later questions is yes, many tree rings can indicate where a tree grows based on climate changes and other indicators within the growth rings. The prior question is harder to answer but dating a tree can help determine or pinpoint certain climatic changes on the earth's surface – helping to determine when a tsunami or hurricane hit a particular area for instance. Also, particular kinds of lumber can help determine when a building was built judging from the growth rings on the lumber used – one has to be careful that the lumber in question was not "re-used" thus compromising the analysis and results.

Can you judge a man's age by the ring he wears? Surely not a science with a name, the question overtheless has some interesting observations and equally interesting concluding. First, how many "older" men do you see wearing the newer, hotter more hip fashions in jewelry today – tungsten rings and / or ceramic rings? Very few – although one must be careful when determining the exact age of "older" – be it men or women! Younger males have gravitated to these newer fashions in men's wedding rings. The age group under 40 is consistent with this analysis. Between 40 and 60 you will see a smattering of some of the newer men's ring fashions but over 60 – you will see mostly gold or silver. Next time you go to the mall, check it out.

Although you will not be able to pinpoint the exact age of most men or even the younger generations of males, you can come close and if you have a keen eye for style you can tell the type of ring they are wearing.
