Natural Care For Hair That is Effortless and Inexpensive

Of course, I do all I can to save the planet, but I fervently advocate saving money. Among all the cost-cutting, cleverly green tricks I have picked-up since the great depression set-in last fall, switching to all-natural care for hair numbers amongst my favorite. Removing a tiny ton of carcinogens from our household eco-system, and especially removing a whole lot of unnecessary expense from our budget, natural care for hair has saved not only our precious golden locks but also our precious-few payday dollars. I may print t-shirts that will proclaim Natural Hair care Saves. It has me.

Trust me: I wish I numbered among Mother Nature’s closest friends. I do not. I mean, yeah, we like one another a lot, but She never calls and invites me to do lunch or drop by for a brisk herbal tea. I cherish my relationship with Mother Nature, but she knows I act with mixed motives. Going green has saved me a ton of money, and it just incidentally helped save Mother Nature’s precious planet. Especially my devotion to natural care for hair derives strictly from the wallet. When I attend my next haughty, upscale cocktail party at the Hotel del Coronado, I will affect all the “greenie” snobbishness I can muster. Here in the regular homes, however, we keep it real: Natural care for hair works exceptionally well at a fraction of the cost of even the cheapest drugstore brands.

Natural care for hair starts with home-built shampoo, rinse, and conditioner. Yes, at first, I spent quite a bit of time researching essential oils, pure and clear soaps and gels, where to buy the ingredients, and how much to pay. I believe my investment of time and effort has paid handsome dividends, because my daughters and I constantly receive more-than-generous compliments. People, our hair looks “terrific,” and the PTA moms especially give me that look-you know, the look that demands to know, “What does she know that I do not know?” The girls and I receive most frequent compliments on the fragrance in our hair, and my darling sophomore reports, “Mom, this natural care for hair stuff, whatever it is, drives the boys crazy.” Carpool rumor holds that Ryan Riley changed his seating assignment in algebra just so he could sit behind our little girl and drink-in the fragrance from her hair. Some rumors ought to circulate.

Natural care for hair extends to styling. The girls and I allegedly are “blessed” with naturally curly hair. We assent in the naturally curly; the jury is still out on the blessing part. Because long ago we acquiesced, letting our curls have their way and abandoning the frustrating, we gave up the largely fruitless task of trying to straighten hair that had absolutely no intention of going straight. We then spent a fortune on products to keep the spring in our ringlets. Since our revolutionary switch to natural care for hair, we gave up all that stuff. Especially when we studied the ingredients in most of those leave-in, curl-boosting snake-oil blends, we agreed all-natural care for hair would save Mama Nature’s good green earth and us. Silicone? Elastomers? Petroleum distillates? Are you kidding me? Our big hair springs bigger and stays bouncy longer when we use natural oils and essences as we style. And, of course, we have perfected natural haircare’s consummate irony: in order to max-out our big-big curls, we braid our hair while it is still damp, and we sleep on our braids over night-just the same as the girls with tragically straight hair.

Our big switch from costly designer label products to natural care for hair actually has saved us enough money that sometimes, in pure defiance of Mother Nature, the girls and I can take ourselves out and get acrylic nails. You see why Mother Nature and I remain a little distant.
