All eyes are going to be on the bride as she walks down that aisle. So whether you are having a huge funeral or quiet backyard nuptials, here are some tips to look your best on your big day.
Apples
I Do's!
To minimize and create the illusion of a smaller midsection, opt for a V-shaped Basque or Antebellum waist. Empire line styles also do well for apples because the raised waistline accentuates the bust and draws the eye upward away from the waist. Higher neckline styles, like a halter neckline, create balance and create extra support in the bust.
I Don'ts!
Avoid poofy sleeves apples! You may want your wedding to be a fairy tail but the last thing you want is to look like a linebacker. Minimize the shoulders with more modest sleeves and avoid plunging necklines that will make you appear too top heavy.
Pears
I Do's!
A-line and Empire styles work best for pears. V-shaped Basque or Antebellum waist will help minimize hips and midsection. Use larger necklines to create balance with your hips.
I Don'ts!
Avoid high cut or halter styles necklines, they will narrow your shoulders and make your hips and waist appear larger. Also avoid large bunching or bows around the hips and butt. Go for a style that drapes subtly over these areas.
Rectangles
I Do's!
Corset type bodices do well to give rectangles the appearance of more curves. Full ball gown type skirts are also a luxury of the rectangle type. However you're going to want wider necklines to create balance with a fuller skirt.
I Don'ts!
Straight cut styles are a no no for the rectangle type. You do not want to look like a big white box. Also avoid high necklines or halter style necklines that are going to make you look to narrow up top.
Hourglass
I Do's!
Most low necklines work for hourglass shapes. V-Neck, Strapless, and scoop style necklines all work well. A-line is a good style for this shape.
I Don'ts!
Empire and other straight cut styles do not flatter the hourglass' curves. But be careful not to go overboard on ruffled or pleated skirts. Balance is crucial to compliment the curvy hourglass shape.
