To have an envious mane of hair, it is very important that you love your hair. Remember that your hair has energy and spirit like other parts of your body, and responds better with kindness and love. If you ignore your hair, it only wilts and dies; so, show your hair love and respect by following some simple hair care basics.
Brushing your hair gently every night before sleeping promotes health hair growth, as it stimulates blood flow to the scalp. When washing your hair, gently wash with lukewarm water, using a mild shampoo that suits your hair type. Regular use of a conditioner makes your hair manageable, healthy and free of tangles.
Avoid blow-drying your hair often, as the heat will only make your hair brittle. However, if you do have to blow dry, make sure that you hold the hair dryer about six to eight inches from your hair. Keep moving the hair dryer so that it does not scorch the hair. If you use curling irons, use it at the lowest setting.
Ensure that your diet is balanced, with lots of water as proper nutrition ensures healthy hair, and water keeps your hair and body hydrated. Avoid touching your hair unnecessarily as you may compromise its luster and dirty it with the oil in your hands. Never brush wet hair; if needed use combs to prevent pulling and breaking your hair.
Avoid using strong dyes and chemicals to process your hair. If you have to wave or relax your hair, keep as long gaps as possible in between treatments to avoid damage. Changing your hair color more than three shades, in lighter or darker directions only leads to excessive hair damage.
It is not advisable to use extra hot water to wash your hair; use warm water, and follow it with cool water for the last rinse. Stress leads to poor, dull and lifeless hair. So, avoid stress and relax yourself whenever possible. Avoid smoking and alcohol, as this can damage your hair. Instead, exercise regularly and eat well for healthy hair.
Tangles are common in your hair. And the best way to get rid of them is by brushing your hair from the bottom. This is because if you brush from the top, you only pull tangles together to create knots that prove difficult to handle. It is possible to avoid split ends by using wide-tooth comb after washing your hair.
If you go swimming regularly, wet your hair or apply some conditioner before swimming. Hair tends to absorb the salt or chlorine in the sea and pool when swimming. However, if you wet your hair, or use a conditioner, absorption turns out to be minimal. It is possible to avoid greasy hair by scrubbing it lightly when washing hair. Harsh scrubbing of your hair only activates sebaceous glands to produce more oils.
If you suffer from a dandruff problem, you just have to apply a mixture of a spoon each of apple cider, vodka, vinegar, a drop of tea tree oil and sufficient warm water to your hair after shampooing. Leave it on overnight, and style as usual in the morning; however don’t rinse it out.
Depending on the length and style of your hair, you have to trim it regularly. If you have short hair, trimming once a month is sufficient. However, if you have long hair, trim your hair every 6-8 weeks to remove split ends.
And last, but not least, choose a stylist who treats you and your hair with respect and is ready to give you the right advice at all times. Maintain a good relationship with the stylist and follow the advice given for your hair care, and pretty soon your hair will be the envy of others.
