OK girls, (and maybe some guys), we've all had it … THE BAD HAIR DAY! We scream OMG I CAN NOT GO OUT LIKE THIS! It can completely ruin our day, our week, our month. It makes us upset, angry, depressed, and practically suicidal. Here are some helpful tips to avoid these dreaded days.
Tip 1. You need fatty acids. You read correctly, taking one to three 250 milligram capsules of borage oil, evening primrose oil or flaxseed oil can help keep you hair (and nails btw ) moisturized. These are all rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
Tip 2. Citrus fruits are not just for eating … squirt some on your head. I did this when I was a kid, lemon juice to bring out natural highlights. According to some celebrity hairstylists, this can work, and is not damaging for your hair.
Tip 3. Keep an eye on hair loss. We all know that some hair loss during the day is quite normal. However, if you begin to see an unofficial amount of loss, consult a doctor. There could be a scalp infection, it could be early sunset baldness (which can occur in women), or, it could be a nutritional deficiency.
Tip 4. Apply a mask once a week. You can purchase one from the store, or you can try a homemade mask. You can make one with a ripe avocado, mashed, and mix that with one egg. Apply this mixture to wet hair. Avocados are very rich in vitamins, fatty acids, and minerals that can help to restore luster. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and rinse out very well. Repeat once a week for damaged hair, or once a month for normal.
Tip 5. Want great smelling hair? Mix a drop or two of your favorite perfume into gel before applying and you'll not only have great looking hair, but it will smell nice too.
Tip 6. Essential oils are really essential. By mixing a few drops of essential oils into your shampoo, you can turn hair washing into an herbal experience! Dilute an 8 ounce bottle of shampoo by half with water and add about 20 drops of essential oil of lavender.
Tip 7. You can try making some hair remedies at home to save some money. Use one part apple cider vinegar and two parts very warm water. This helps to keep the PH balance of your scalp. It also brings out natural red highlights. After applying this mixture, keep it on for a few minutes, then wash hair as usual.
Tip 8. Anybody want some eggs? Mix one egg with a small amount of shampoo, apply to hair and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse well. This mixture if filled with protein, which is very good for your hair.
Tip 9. Keep hair trimmed regularly. This helps to cut away damaged ends, split ends, and keeps hair looking fresh.
Tip 10. Botanical oils such as olive, jojoba, and sweet almond oils are all very good for your hair. If your hair is thick and heavy, try coconut oil. Supposedly works wonders! (think I'll have to try that one). Dampen your hair, apply the oil in small amounts until hair is completely covered, cover with a shower cap and warm towel for half hour, then rinse and shampoo as usual.
