Wedding Dresses For A Bride With A Bump

[ad_1]

Expecting a baby is a wonderful, exciting and somewhat nerve-wracking experience, a bit like getting married so if you’re doing both at the same time then huge congratulations to you! Preparing and planning for your big day whilst pregnant can seem a bit daunting, you’re probably sat there thinking you’re going to need to wear a tent with your ever-growing tummy!

However, there really is no need to worry. With recent research showing that around 20% of brides are pregnant on their big day there is a growing and diverse collection of beautiful and stunning maternity wedding dresses for you to choose from. Shotgun weddings are all in the past but getting married before the arrival of a child is still important to many couples to seal their relationship together, not like in your mother’s or grandmother’s era when it was the ‘done thing’ to do with a baby on the way.

One thing that many expectant mothers have is the bloom. Your hair, skin and nails look healthier and you look glowing and radiant. Don’t be frightened to show off your new body and make the most of your natural beauty. For many pregnant women they have never felt better or sexier!

To begin with you will need to work out how far along in your pregnancy you will be on your wedding day. This will give you an idea of what your body shape may look like, a four-month growing bump is quite a different size to an eight-month sized bump! All women carry babies differently, even if this isn’t your first child, bumps vary in shape and size. Some are small and compact, some are high, whilst others are low. By working out how many weeks or months you are going to be you and the bridal boutique will be able to work out whether a standard wedding dress in a larger size or a maternity wedding gown will be required. Do bear in mind that your body is changing to accommodate a growing baby therefore it is likely that you will put on weight. For many expectant mothers their bust increases by at least two cup sizes so you will need to take this into consideration. Some boutiques will provide you with a ‘pretend bump’ to put on underneath the gowns you are trying on to help you envisage what you and your real bump will look like on your special day!

Whether you’re having a formal or an informal wedding you can choose a wedding dress you love, and look and feel beautiful in, with a wide collection available to suit every expectant bride’s needs. There are lots of styles to flatter you and your bump. If you’re in the earlier stages pregnancy or this is your first baby you could simply opt for a larger size in a wedding dress rather than looking for a certain style or a maternity wedding gown. Empire and A-line wedding dresses, Grecian gowns, flowing stretchy fabrics and loose-fitting dresses are ideal around larger tums and will complement you beautifully. Alternatively you may choose to have a comfortable yet figure hugging style dress to show off and accent your growing curves, it is very much your personal choice as a mummy and bride to be. Tight fitting corsets and bodices would be very restrictive and would be uncomfortable not just for you, but for your baby too.

As a pregnant woman it is easy to overheat so ensure the fabric you go for helps to keep you cool as well as comfortable. Silks, satins, chiffon, taffeta and lace are all perfect choices. You’ll also need to think about straps and sleeves. At some point during your nine months of carrying a new life you will move into the world of maternity and nursing bras. These usually have wider straps compared to standard everyday bras. Do take this into consideration when choosing your wedding gown as you may need to avoid spaghetti straps. Alternatively invest in a really supportive strapless bra, do watch out for those underwires though as they can cause your milk ducts to block which can lead to infections. Pop in some breast pads too just in case of unsightly leaks, not a good look for your wedding photos!

As well as a comfortable dress those wedding shoes must ooze comfort. You are going to be on your feet for a large proportion of the day and even if you used to live in high heels the extra baby weight you are carrying will be an immense strain on you. As the extra weight is unevenly distributed your balance also may not be what it usually is and the last thing you want is to be falling, rather than gliding down the aisle to meet your groom.

Your fittings are a vital part of the lead up to your wedding day to make sure that your dress fits as it should. With your ever a changing shape you may need to have your final fitting just a few days before your wedding day. Once you have achieved the perfect fit then all that is left is for you to enjoy your day as husband and wife and look forward to a lifetime of happiness with your new family.
