Tiaras have become a staple in weddings. These accessories are said to have been first used during the time of the pharaohs in Ancient Egypt. From those early times until now, their purpose and use has essentially remained the same. They give the wearer a sense of even greater beauty, as if they were sent from the heavens or the gods above. The same can be said when wearing a tiara during beauty pageants. In addition of highlighting the beauty of the wearer, wedding tiaras have a functional side as they are also commonly used to push the hair away from the wearer’s face, making it more appear more neat and tidy.

With the high demand for tiaras during weddings, it is not surprising to know that it has become big business. Brides will find that there is a wide array of shops and businesses that make and sell wedding tiaras to suit their need or preference. Depending on the budget, it is even possible to have a wedding tiara customized. The styles of wedding tiaras have become so varied that it is important to note the different kinds of tiaras before choosing one. Some types include the tiara comb, back piece, headband, princess headpiece, a bun ring, double headband and a V-band. Distinguishing one from another may help the bride determine which one would fit with whatever gown they are wearing, their hairstyle or even their facial features.

There are several kinds of bridal tiaras. A tiara comb is a type of wedding tiara which can be attached to the hair with a comb. There are different types of wedding tiaras that are used to complement different hairstyles. For example, bun rings and back pieces are both worn on the back and are commonly used with bun hairstyles. The difference is a bun ring is used with an up do while back pieces are for lower buns or hairstyles using a French twist. Usually, a bun ring is more elaborate while back pieces highlight the hairstyle but does not draw all of the attention towards the piece. A princess headpiece is seen as the traditional tiara used in weddings. As implied by its name, this bridal tiara resembles a crown which is placed on the head of royalty. Next are headbands. These bridal tiaras look similar to princess headpieces in terms of looks but are more functional as they keep the hair away from the face of the bride. Headbands are usually decorated with rhinestones to make them appear to glisten more.

Other types include the double headband and the V-band. The double headband consists of two headbands joined together at the ends. This type of bridal tiara is seen as the most flexible of all the types as it can used like a princess headpiece or a headband on top of the head or as an accessory for a bun hairstyle. Last but not least are V-bands. These are seen as the most restricting as they are only suitable to a specific type of face. As compared to other types of tiaras and crowns, these are placed on the forehead, accentuating the face more. This type of bridal tiara is most suitable for individuals with longer faces.
