What to Wear at a Wedding

[ad_1]

You've been invited for a wedding and you're not sure of what to wear. Help is at hand – here are some basic tips on how to look your best at the event. Remember, there's nothing to be nervous about because everyone will have their attention focused on the bride and the groom. Though that does not mean you should not be well turned out!

Dress according to when the wedding is going to be held. For a morning wedding, wear lighter colors. Your clothes should be slightly less formal than what you wear to a wedding in the evening. Men could opt for a sports coat or a suit while women could wear a colorful dress, skirt or suit. Floral patterns also work well. For an afternoon wedding, the attire would be much the same.

If the wedding is in the evening and a dress code is not specified, men should wear dark suits and women should wear dresses, skirts or suits. Since the event is in the evening, select elegant, rich fabrics. Women can wear more ornamental jewelry than they would wear to an afternoon or morning wedding. They could team their dress with a nice evening bag.

If the invitation indicates cocktail dress, wear what you would wear to an upscale party. Men should dress appropriately – tuxedos are a no-no though. Women could wear chic dresses. Floral or overly colorful patterns are not a good idea.

When your invitation says, 'Black tie optional' it means men are expected to wear either a tuxedo or a dark suit. Weaving a tuxedo is optional so a navy, black or charcoal gray suit would work just as well. Women could opt for a full length dress or a shorter cocktail dress.

A black tie wedding is a formal affair so if your invitation says so, make sure you wear a tuxedo or a full length dress, as applicable. For this kind of an event, it is better to be dressed a little too typically sometimes rather than appear to look casual.

In modern day weddings, wearing black is no longer considered taboo. However, make sure your attire does not make you look like you are attending a funeral instead of a wedding. Try and add a splash of color like a scarf or a blazer to lighten the effect of the black.

Wearing white to a wedding is generally not a good idea for women since they run the risk of overshadowing the bride. If you do plan to wear white, make sure you add some color to your outfit so that you are not mistaken for the bride!
