I’ve asked this question to a number of people. Men and women. I get a variety of answers but there are some answers that I have come to expect. They might surprise you …
Women will typically say something like – I thought Tungsten wedding bands were made just for men. Or they might say – aren’t they really heavy – I don’t know if I would want to wear a heavy ring. If pressed, most women say they have never tried one on they have just heard stories about them; like they think Tungsten wedding rings can’t be removed from your finger in an accident – they have to cut your finger off! Wow, is this the 21st century?
Men on the other hand, no pun intended, will know far more about this subject. They rattle off all the characteristics that have made them so popular over the past 10 years. They think it is really cool that they are heavy – makes them masculine they say. And particularly for men who work with their hands or work outside, they love it that these rings don’t scratch or dent or mar or discolor – even in harsh conditions. They invariably say, “Tungsten wedding rings are a man’s ring!”
So, I guess the question must still be answered, would YOU wear one? Do you think they are too heavy? Do you think the permanently polished characteristic is in style and desirable – how about non-scratching – is this important to you?
Have you heard that they can be made with carbon fiber inlaid? Stones inlaid? Gold inlaid? What do you know about price? Did you realize that some of the cheaper ones from China can be purchased for a hundred bucks? The better, patented variety cost more – they can run into the hundreds – even up to a thousand dollars.
