Every couple wants to create a unique look for their wedding reception. The centerpieces are often the best place to start, as they allow for the most creativity. One really cute idea is to forgo the usual floral arrangements in favor of flowers arranged to look like gifts.
Pretty packaging makes anything look more special, do not you think? When you give your bridesmaid jewelry gifts, you do not just hand them over in a brown paper bag, after all; you take the time to lovingly package the gifts of bridesmaid jewelry to make the outside look as special as the inside.
This same idea can be used for the centerpieces at your wedding reception. Everyone has been to a million weddings with the same old clear glass vase with roses. Why not go for something more distinct and fun? A really great idea is to have your florist create a display of flowers in an unexpected way that your guests will always remember.
To create centerpieces that look like stacks of gifts, your florist will basically be using the heads of fresh flowers and pin them to box shaped forms. You can use any color that you like, from all white to the bright fuchsia and orange. Look for flowers that have open petals and a defined center, such as daisies. Carnations could also work, as they can be packed very tightly together. You want to achieve a totally seamless effect with none of the form visible.
The flowers can be pinned to the box forms with decorative pins, such as pearl tipped hatpins. If your taste runs more to crystals than pearls, substitute crystal tipped pins for the most sparkle on your tables. You can use clear crystals for glitz and glamor, or mix in colored ones for sparkle plus a pop of color to contrast with the flowers.
Once you have your "gifts", all that remains is to display them on the tables. A very pretty look would be to stack three floral boxes going from largest to smallest. Then tie the whole pile of presents with a wide organza or satin ribbon. Another display idea would be to use a larger collection of flower covered boxes and pile them more more randomly on the table. You could set a small box in front of each place setting with a "gift tag" in lieu of the standard name card.
The floral gift box centerpiece is too cute to reserve just for weddings. It would also be a fantastic display at a bridal shower. Choose the color of the flowers based on the season or the bride's favorite colors. For instance, you could use white daisies and tie the "boxes" together with a Tiffany blue ribbon for a unique take on that iconic gift box. Or for the preppy bride, a combination of pink and green flowers would make the perfect gift boxes when tied up with a plaid bow.
When it comes to planning your wedding, why be ordinary? Unique and creative centerpieces will add a wonderful personal touch to your reception. And for one of the most darling takes on a floral centerpiece, you can not beat the fun idea of flower covered "gift" boxes.
