Ideas for Very Small Weddings

[ad_1]

A wedding does not have to be large to feel special and important. In fact, sometimes it is the smallest weddings which feel the most meaningful. When an intimate celebration is your style, there are some steps you can take to make it feel both cozy and grand at the same time. These are some wonderful ideas for very small weddings.

I once attended a wedding with less than thirty guests. The small size of the celebration allowed it to feel very personal and intimate. They did not have all of the traditional trappings of a large wedding (such as dancing), yet the wedding was so beautifully orchestrated that it did not feel like it was missing a single thing. The thing that really made this tiny wedding work so well was scale. The ceremony was held by the fireplace in the bride's parents' living room and the reception took place in a private dining room at an elegant country club. Large spaces with few people in them feel empty and sad, but a small space with the same number of guests will feel vividly and intimate. It is all about matching the scale of the guest list to the wedding venues.

A small wedding is the perfect opportunity to put your personal stamp on everything. Leave nothing "as is" when you can personalize it in some way. This can be too overwhelming for a large wedding, but very doable for a tiny one. At the presented wedding, the bride swapped out the club's standard white tablecloths for beautiful shimmering organza cloths in a warm color. She also carried the warm color into her pearl earrings by adding richly hued crystals. A custom jacket worn over her simple bridal gown was another lovely personal touch. Another idea is to offer your guests handmade wedding favors, such as your own jam or handcrafted candles.

Speaking of candles, they can be a lovely way to add a warm and intimate feeling to a small wedding. Just think about how romantic a tiny candlelit table for two can be tucked into the corner of a tiny bistro – that is the feeling you can create using candles at your small ceremony and reception. Use candles in varying heights as part of the centerpieces to infuse your reception with a warm glow. Set out floating candles around the ceremony site, especially if you are trying to add a romantic feeling to your own living room. If there is a fireplace available, either light it or fill it with a ton of candles to take advantage of the great feature.

Family style dinner service can work very well for an intimate wedding. After all, the group you will have is not much larger than one might have for a large holiday gathering. Bring everyone together at a couple of long tables to encourage a good flow of conversation. Serve dishes which have a special meaning to you to make the dinner feel more personal. If you will not have dancing, do still plan on having some pleasant background music, whether it is recorded or live. That will help to create an inviting ambiance which all will enjoy.

Small weddings can be so special. Create a warm and intimate environment to help your tiny celebration feel just as grand in its own way as a wedding many times its size. For guests, one of the best parts about a tiny wedding is that they will feel very much a part of the entire event.
