Ideas to Personalize Your Wedding Ceremony

[ad_1]

Did you know that if you choose a Civil Marriage Celebrant you have an abundance of choices regarding your wedding ceremony? Not only can you choose to marry at any place or any time, apart from a few legal requirements, you can customize your ceremony to reflect who you are and what is important to you.

Perhaps the first question to ask yourself is what type of wedding do you envisage? Can you imagine something very casual and intimate, or is your style more traditional or formal? Whatever you choose the following suggestions will hopefully give you some ideas to help you create your perfect ceremony.

Your Story

Your wedding really is about you and your guests love listening to your story. How did you meet? What do you love about each other? What do you enjoy doing together? These personal details can really mark the occasion and make it unique.

Readings

A reading or poem can beautifully express your thoughts and feelings and add an extra dimension to your ceremony. Perhaps you already have a favorite poem or reading that means something to you, or this may be your chance to pen your own or search the hundreds of works available to find something just right.

Family and Friends

Do you have family or friends, past or present, that you would like to particularly acknowledge? Whether it be your children, parents, grandparents, siblings, other family members or friends, you may wish to incorporate a few words to let them know how much they mean to you.

Vows

In Australia, there are certain legal vows that must be said in accordance with the Marriage Act 1961 to institute a legal marriage, but apart from these, you can include your own promises that mean something to you. You may wish to search the internet or books for ideas, or just sit down with a pen and paper and write down in your own words why you love your partner and your promises to them.

Rituals and Symbols

There are many different rituals that can symbolically represent the joining of two lives, or sometimes the blending of a family which can be incorporated into your ceremony. Unity candle, sand ceremony, hand fasting or dove release are just a few rituals you may wish to consider.

Music

What music do you like? Would you prefer live music or CDs? Can you imagine a piper playing bagpipes, walking down the aisle to Pachelbel's "Canon in D" or maybe Aerosmiths' "Do not Wanna Miss A Thing"?

These are only a few ideas to help you create a wedding ceremony that is unique to you. After all, it's your day so it should be all about you!
