Need Any Ideas on Wedding Cakes and Dessert Tables?

[ad_1]

Your wedding cake is one of the most important focal points at your wedding reception and you want it tasty, meaningful to the two of you, "right right" decorated and inexpensive too.

We are seeing some trends right now and thought it would be a good idea to pass them along to you to help give you ideas on what the two of you might choose for your wedding day.

Even though most of you stick to the vanilla, chocolate, sponge cake or fruitcake flavors, lemon in particular and almond are appearing at wedding receptions these days.

In case you are doing several cakes make them all different flavors.

Also may I suggest for a fall or winter wedding a delicious spice cake or even marble for a welcome change from what the guests are usually being served.

I am giving you 5 top wedding cake trends for you to think about as you choose that very special cake.

1. All White Wedding Cakes

How can you go wrong with a beautifully decorated all white frosted cake?

With these cakes much emphasis is devoted to texture which is added by piping, ruffles, blossoms, stripes, lace and monograms.

It is a very classic and classy look and really needs a great cake decorator to make elegant and gorgeous.

2. Metallic On Wedding Cakes

The cake takes on a tile sheen of a beautiful finish if you have one tier or more covered in gold or silver leaf.

You can opt for just gilt-edged flowers if to much metallic is not the look you wish.

3. Real Blossoms

An inexpensive way of giving your cake a real punch while watching the budget is to decorate with lovely flowers.

Some suggestions I have would garden roses, hydrangea heads, orchids, daisies and peonies to mention a few.

Supersized flowers make a visual impact and quite dramatic and pretty to look at. You can though, do clusters of small blooms or small garlands if you like that look instead.

4. Lace for Your Wedding Cake

Bride's are wanting to feature lace from their own gown into their wedding cake.

There are a few ways this is being done and it is really quite beautiful.

Brush embroidery is a royal icing technique and creates a textured lace style andible lace mats can be found on the internet or ask your local baker.

These can be used to come up with stunning flexible and editable lace and can be cut to fit, used as a lovely border or draped.

Appliquéd lace are individually molded pieces of lace that are attached to fondant covered cakes.

Needless to say, there are a multitude of designs at your disposal.

5. Dessert Table and More Than One Cake

Here's where you can have a lot of fun if you do not want to go for the one multi-tiered wedding cake.

Many couples are wanting to offer their guests choices to suit their own tastes so are doing a small multi-tiered cake with a few single layer cakes in different flavors offered too.

Also, some are having the tiered cake along with mini cakes or cupcakes.

They may be beautifully displayed on cake stands arranged at various heights for a grand effect.

The dessert table takes your sweets to another level and the guests really love it as they can take small bites of various tasty treats.

One important thing to do is to make the table interesting and inviting. By that I mean place the desserts at various levels even if it means using sturdy boxes and such things to create the levels. Then cover the entire table with a lovely cloth or fabric so they do not show.

Also, choose attractive dishes, bowls and plates to display the items.

Some desserts to place on the table would be mini pies and cakes and donuts, an assortment of cookies, small helpings of mousse or custard in shot glasses, brownies, small cream puffs and an assortment of tasty candies.

You can have fun deciding what you want on the table, such as both of your favorites or family recipes.

Hope this gives you a few ideas that will be good for you when planning your wedding cakes and dessert table for those very special guests to share with you.
