Weddings are notoriously hard to plan, in fact there is even a movie made about a wedding planner! It takes an intense amount of coordination, tenacity, and bargain shopping to pull off any wedding. But, getting a smaller wedding off the ground can seem impossible to traditional wedding planners, so you just might be on your own with this one. Planning a small wedding on a budget, though, is very easy if you use your imagination and can be a little flexible.
What is important here is your definition of a "small wedding". Do you mean you, your fiancé, and four witnesses? Or do you mean that you will be feeding 50? Nowadays, any wedding that seats less than 100 is considered small, and it is not unusual for people of relatively little means to have a wedding for several hundred people. So, planning a small wedding on a budget is purely relative.
If you are looking to have a wedding of less than 20 guests, you can save a lot of money by having your reception in a restaurant, rather than a reception hall. Many of the better restaurants will have a separate room just for this purpose. Small weddings like this also enable you to have a small ceremony in an unusual venue such as a park, the woods, or even your own backyard.
Planning a small wedding on a budget is easy if you are comfortable thinking outside the box. You will not have a Princess Diana wedding, but you can have one that brings you joy and represent your personality and style.
